Tiaro Community, West Guadalcanal Constituency early this month were given tips on how to harmonize tourism development with marine conservation.

A team from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources led by Japanese Consultant Mitsuo Iinuma-San travelled to Tiaro Bay, where the workshop was held.

Bad weather did little to dampen the spirits of the participants who showed through their participation, their eargerness to learn how tourism development can be harmonized with the Marine Conservation activities.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Community Based Resource Management staff often travel to the Marine Protected Area (MPAs) around the provinces to conduct trainings for the people in the communities.

This visit to Tiaro is scheduled as the first visit to an MPA by staff from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
