The licensing section deals with the issuance of Licences for both inshore and offshore resources to fishing companies. It ensures that companies legally obtain licences to carry out their investment fishing activities in line with national laws and regional obligations.
It is responsible for Offshore Licences (Foreign Vessel, Chartered Foreign Vessel, Local Vessels and Onshore Processing), Inshore Licences (Processing and Export), Commercial Aquaculture Licences (Farming and Export), Importation Licences; and permitting in regard to export permits and Import Permits, advice on provincial licences, and Commercial sport fishing.
Interested Investors in Solomon Islands can register and apply for Offshore licences online through the FIMs Electronic Licensing Register (ELR) system. Other Licences may be lodged in person at MFMR Front desk.
