Zinoa and Taqu celebrated World Oceans Day
Two locally marine managed areas (LMMAs) - Zinoa Marine Conservation area and Taqu Marine Conservation area came together for the first-time to celebrate the World Oceans Day on the 8th of June 2022 at Voza community, Northwest Choiseul Province.
Government and Development Partners Visit Bina Project site
The Minister of Fisheries, Hon Nestor Giro and a delegation including Senior Officials of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR), the High Commissioners of Australia and New Zealand and their officials, and the Supervising Premier and representatives of Malaita Provincial Government made a day visit to the Bina Harbor Tuna Processing Plant (BHTPP) Project site last week.
MFMR organise In-house PMP training for its staff
The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has conducted a one day refresher workshop for its staff who missed similar training last year and those who joined the ministry recently.
MFMR launches new website - FISHERIES 2.0
Honiara 9th April 2021: The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources this morning launched its brand new website.
Speaking on the occasion, Permanent Secretary Dr Christain Ramofafia said the new website gives the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources the opportunity to show case its work to the world. “This website will serve as our platform to showcase who we are, to share our core business programmes. Our achievements, our responsibilities, our obligations, our commitments to the fisheries sector and to the people of our country will now be shared with others beyond our borders,” he said.
